Dr. Mariya Rozenblum
DDS, Endodontist
Biography
Dr. Mariya Rozenblum is an endodontist with over 20 years of experience, practicing at Gentle Dental of NJ in Newark’s Ironbound neighborhood. She earned her DDS from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in 2003, graduating in the top 10% of her class, and completed her specialty training in Endodontics at Columbia in 2005. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of San Francisco, where she graduated with honors.
Endodontics is the dental specialty that deals with the inside of the tooth, specifically the pulp and root canal system. When a tooth’s internal tissues become infected or inflamed, endodontic treatment removes the damaged tissue, disinfects the canals, and seals the tooth to prevent reinfection.
Dr. Rozenblum’s training at Columbia gave her a strong foundation in the science behind endodontic treatment, and two decades of practice have refined her clinical judgment. She has treated thousands of cases ranging from straightforward single-canal teeth to complex molars with unusual anatomy.
Having an endodontist on staff at Gentle Dental of NJ means patients don’t need a separate referral. Everything happens in one location, and the endodontist and general dentists communicate directly about each case.
Since 2005, Dr. Rozenblum has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Endodontics at Mt. Sinai Medical & Dental Center in Manhattan, teaching both general and pediatric dental residents. Her research background includes NIH-supported studies on endodontic stem-cell applications and publications in the Jarvie Journal. She has received numerous recognitions, including the Research Achievement Award from the American Association of Endodontists and the Columbia University Alumni Excellence Award in Endodontics.
Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Rozenblum is known for combining advanced endodontic expertise with a patient-centered approach.
Clinical Focus
Root Canal Treatment – Dr. Rozenblum performs root canals on all types of teeth using advanced rotary instrumentation and irrigation protocols to clean and shape the canal system thoroughly.
Endodontic Retreatment – When a previous root canal hasn’t healed or new infection develops, Dr. Rozenblum carefully removes existing filling material, re-cleans the canals, and reseals the tooth.
Endodontic Microsurgery (Apicoectomy) – When retreatment through the crown isn’t sufficient, Dr. Rozenblum performs microsurgical procedures to access the root tip directly, remove infected tissue, and seal the canal from the bottom.
Cracked Tooth Diagnosis – Cracked teeth are notoriously difficult to diagnose. Dr. Rozenblum uses her experience and diagnostic tools to identify the type and extent of a crack and determine the best treatment approach.
Emergency Endodontic Care – Severe toothaches caused by pulp infection or abscess require urgent care. Dr. Rozenblum provides emergency root canal treatment to relieve pain and stop infection. Call (973) 817-8888.
